Strategies for Addressing Secondary Traumatic Stress

The CE-CERT model (Components for Enhancing Clinician Engagement and Reducing Trauma) was developed to give trauma clinicians strategies to address secondary traumatic stress (STS) and support their engagement. CE-CERT is different from the typical training approaches that describe the occupational hazards and rely on self-care to use outside of work.

Instead, CE-CERT provides in-the-moment strategies that mental health providers can use to deal with work stress at work. CE-CERT also focuses on enhancing the enjoyable work experiences that help clinicians stay engaged in their careers.
