Rosa Espinosa, MSW, LCSW, has been working with families who have been impacted by trauma since 2009. She has worked within the community both as a clinician working directly to serve families as well as training others who are serving families across North Carolina. Ms. Espinosa is bilingual and bicultural and is fluent in English and Spanish. She has worked in outpatient and school-based settings providing trauma treatment in both languages to families who have been impacted by trauma.
Ms. Espinosa has extensive knowledge and experience working with Intimate Partner Violence and young children and has trained child protective services, North Carolina domestic violence and family court judges, attorneys, and other community agencies to identify gaps in services, increase community awareness, and ensure a continuum of care for traumatized children and their families. Ms. Espinosa was a member of the North Carolina Child Fatality Prevention Committee, co-developed and served as the Assistant Coordinator for the Legal Representation Project, developed a community needs assessment and identified a service gap for children under five who have experienced intimate partner violence. This resulted in her co-developing the Counseling and Responding to DV Through Early Intervention (CARE) program for children ages birth to five, and advocating for evidenced-based training and treatment in early childhood trauma, in Mecklenburg County. She has been providing training and consultation in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) since 2015 through the North Carolina Child Treatment Program.
